Hortense Chauvin

Hortense Chauvin is interested in environmental history, transnational history, the history of European tourism in the modern era, gender history, and the First World War. Her interest for those two last topics encouraged her to pursue herresearch on gender relations between the Allied army of the Orient and the civilian population in Salonika for her final year independent research project. This project was made possible thanks to an Arts Research Internship Award from McGill University and an internship at the French School at Athens. She is currently planning on pursuing her research on this topic in a Master degree in modern European history next year.
