Library Reading Room : Operates as a research room. The reading room will be operated exclusively by the Central Student Reading Room of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Loan/ Return of books and textbooks from “Eudoxus” : No online request and no appointment required.

 

ACCESS TO THE BOOKSTATIONS IS PERMITTED. Therefore, research and identification of material is done by users (up to five books per day).
You search the library’s online catalogue for the books you want. If available you visit the Library for borrowing by noting the collection and the classification number of the material. Instructions for searching for materials can be found on the Library’s YouTube page.
Requests for Library Registration and Certification of No Outstanding Library items are still made online.
The academic ID (pass) is activated as a library card by submitting an online request :

The certificate of no pending Library membership is given by submitting an online application :

Certificate for graduation or departure from Greece (Erasmus students)
The Library Staff first checks the Online Catalog and the Eudoxus system and then issues a digitally-signed document confirming that you do not owe any Library books or Eudoxus textbooks.

The Library of the Departments of Archaeology and History of Art, the largest of its kind in Northern Greece, was founded in 1926. It is housed on the 3rd floor of the New Building of the Faculty of Philosophy (301) and has a collection of approximately 42,000 volumes and 300 titles of scientific journals, of which 170 titles are current. The number of books increases annually by about 500 titles. The Library is used by the faculty and students of the Department of History and Archaeology as well as by archaeologists of the Ministry of Culture and other researchers.

Objectives

To support the educational and research needs of the Departments of Archaeology and Art History and, more generally, research in archaeology and art history.
The collection, preservation and promotion of rare and valuable material in any form, as well as the continuous enrichment and upgrading of the services provided.
To organize the material in accordance with international library standards and to incorporate new technologies in the way of operation.
The development of cooperation at national and international level with other libraries and institutions in order to achieve the fullest coverage of users’ needs by combining methods of contribution, acquisition and rational management of its financial resources.
