Folklore Museum and Archive

Location: Room 8 of the Old Building of the Faculty of Philosophy

Content: Permanent exhibition of the collections of the Folklore Museum and the Archive “The valuables of tradition, a precious tradition”. The exhibition, which was inaugurated in June 2010 in the specially renovated space, includes the entire collections of the Museum: ceramics, woodcarvings, metalwork, local costumes, embroidery, textiles, weavings, tools, utensils, rare objects of small crafts and handicrafts. The Museum, which has a specially equipped area for seminars and tutorials, houses and exhibits rare archival material (photographs, documents, manuscripts, paintings and sculptures, shadow theatre figures), as well as objects and furniture related to the history of the Museum and the history of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, while the Folklore Study Centre (hall. 104-104 PK of the Faculty of Philosophy) a small collection of musical instruments is also exhibited.

The Museum is open to the public, students and researchers.
